REPORT - Composition Audit of Recyclables Collected in the GMRSC and CRSC Regions

The Greater Miramichi Regional Service Commission (CSRGM) and the Chaleur Regional Service Commission (CRSC) collect the same products as part of the curbside residential recycling program. All recyclables collected in the two regions were sorted at Société Via in Rivière-du-Loup, QC until the end of 2019. Since January 2020, recyclable materials are now sorted at the sorting centre of ECO 360 located in Moncton. As no sorting is done locally, CSRGM and CRSC can't determine the quality and compliance of items collected under the residential curbside recycling program. When issuing a request for proposals, the GMRSC and the CRSC retained the services of Chamard Environmental Strategies to conduct the composition audit. Please note that the sampled areas were chosen at random.

The results of these audits were used in planning our communication, awareness, and public education strategy.
